The Advisory Council on Gay and Lesbian Issues, with the City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations, established the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame as a historic event and an exhibit. The Hall of Fame recognizes the contributions of Chicago's lesbian and gay community and the community's efforts to eradicate homophobic bias and discrimination
