Open Doors was was conceived as the Lesbian and Gay Graduate Collective of Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF in November, 1989, and recognized by the University shortly thereafter. The group has worked to meet personal and political needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trangendered, queer and questioning graduate students.
The Gay and Lesbian Foundation of Long Island (GALFOLI) is a community foundation, that provides funding and fundraising support to other 501(c)(3) organizations for projects and programs that meet the needs and/or enhance the quality of life of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) community of Long Island. All funds are dispursed through grants to local grass roots agencies for HIV/AIDS, Breast Cancer and GLBT causes.
