PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a sociaty that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
This is a friendly social group for Gay People in Rowan County NC and surrounding areas. This is not a group for hook~ups. It is for people seeking friendships outside the typical bar scene. This group is for making friends and discussing gay issues. Personals are allowed Pictures of yourself, friends and your Gay family are encouraged. Ideally for people to meet ,talk, and set up get Togethers (such as cookouts, brunches, and other social events.
This band was started back in 1987 by a female drummer who was (and still is) known for being bodacious. This woman wanted to play drums in her high school band, but couldn't ... not because she was female, but because her high school had cut the funding for the band, so there wasn't one. In protest one Friday night during what would have been the half time show she strapped herself to a bass drum, marched to the 50 yard line,``stood there alone and played.......
