Support, Advocacy and education.
PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a sociaty that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender - Straight Alliance of UNC Chapel Hill advocates and educates on issues affecting LGBTQ-identified people in the Southeastern United States. By creating dialogues between heterosexual and LGBTQ communities; networking with campus and community progressive organizations; building an affirming LGBTQ social environment; and advocating for the civil rights of all people, we create a community of LGBTQ folks and their allies that supports and affirms all aspects of their identities.
