The membership includes over 300 men and women from throughout the metropolitan area. More than 1,200 people attend events throughout the year. PEN members work for business, nonprofit, and government organizations.

Ever wondered if any of the local men and women in blue prefers to protect and serve in lavender? The answer is an unabashed YES for the staff of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit (GLLU). The unit is staffed by two openly gay and lesbian members of the department, Sergeant Brett A. Parson and Officer Kelly McMurry. Since its inception in June 2000, the GLLU has dedicated itself to serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) communities in the Washington Metropolitan area and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
The Chesapeake and Potomac Softball League (CAPS) was founded in 1983 to establish a friendly place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (G/L/B/T) people in the greater Washington/Baltimore metroplitan area to go to play softball, learn and/or enhance softball skills, and meet new people.

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally (GLBTA) Resource Center works to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community that welcomes people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by providing support, educational resources, and advocacy.
Northwest Bears is organized as a social and service organization to provide a focal point within the gay community for Bears, Cubs and Trappers. We shy away from defining 'Bears' in specific terms.
