The Little Sugar River Farm is a beautiful vacation rental near New Glarus, Wisconsin, about 2.5 hours north of Chicago. The farm offers peace and relaxation on a small organic farm surrounded by a 1900 acre wildlife preserve.
We have built a commercial kitchen on the farm, so if guests wish,we can cook meals for them that take advantage of the delicious flavors of fresh, local, organic ingredients. For menus and prices, please visit our website.
We can have dinner ready for you when you arrive (or any day that you're here)--alfresco in the gazebo during the summer, or in front of the woodstove in the winter. Guests are also welcome to cook for themselves in the fully equipped kitchen in the house.
Hiking, biking, canoeing, eating home-grown vegetables and berries, picking flowers from the extensive gardens, simply relaxing on the back porch are some of the best ways to spend one's time here.
The house, which received an Honor Award in 2000 from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, is elegant yet simple. Set at the edge of a wildlife preserve with lovely views, the design is reminiscent of early 20th century farm buildings. Interior flooring, cabinets, and furniture were custom built of cherry and oak harvested from the wood lot. Within the main room of the house, three walls of windows flood the interior with light. French doors open to a large back porch facing the sunset.
Trek hybrid bikes, two kayaks, and a canoe are available for guest use. We are close to excellent restaurants, art studios, and galleries.
